Betty Stockland

July 27, 1936 — August 12, 2017

Betty J. Stockland, age 81, of Willmar, died Saturday afternoon, August 12, at Rice Care Center in Willmar.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 16, at Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.

Betty was born on July, 27 1936 in Springfield, Minnesota, the daughter of William F. and Edna (Stark) Prechel. She grew up in the Springfield community and graduated from Springfield High School. On September 26, 1959, Betty was united in marriage to Myron Eugene Stockland. They made their home in Willmar where she worked at R&M Ben Franklin and at Rice Memorial Hospital in laundry. When her son Scott was born she became a stay at home Mom.

Betty loved to knit and donated many pairs of handmade mittens to the Salvation Army. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, bird watching and being with her family.

She is survived by her son, Scott (and Sandra) of Litchfield and one grandson, Zachary. Also surviving is one sister, Sandra Brelje of Brownton; three brothers, Alfred (and Connie) Prechel of Minneapolis, Eugene (and Marge) Prechel of Waubun and Dennis Prechel of Columbus, OH; and a sister-in-law, Agnes "Jackie" Morhbacher of Golden Valley; besides other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Myron in 2012; five brothers, Melvin, Alvin, Henry, Robert and Norman and one sister, Lorraine Szymanski.
