Arnold Witte

ATWATER, MN.

Arnold Emil Witte, age 91, of Atwater, died Tuesday morning, September 19, at the Sunnyview Assisted Living Home in Atwater.
The service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 23, at St. John Lutheran Church in Atwater with Rev. Robert Westad officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM on Friday, September 22, at the church and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Funeral arrangements are with the Atwater Funeral Home.
Arnold was born on March 5, 1915, on the family farm in Harrison Township, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota, the son of Frank and Marie (Schultz) Witte. He grew up in the rural Atwater community, was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church, and received his education at the St. John Lutheran school and at the Harrison Township school. On April 8, 1942, he was united in marriage to Irma M. Yungk. They lived and farmed north of Atwater. In 1976, they moved into Atwater but continued farming with his son, Don. He was a lifetime member of St. John Lutheran Church and served as an Elder, Trustee and school board member. In 2003, he entered the Immanuel Nursing Home in Litchfield and in 2004, he moved into the Sunnyview Assisted Living Home in Atwater.
He is survived by one son, Don (and Pam) Witte of Atwater; two grandchildren, Jennifer Witte of Golden Valley and Janell (and Michael) Larson of Farmington, and one sister, Lydia Kalkbrenner of Atwater, besides other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Irma in 1996, and one brother, Fritz Witte.
