Anna Mae Green, age 94, of Kandiyohi, passed away Tuesday evening, January 28, at CentraCare Rice Memorial Hospital. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. followed by her memorial service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, at the Church of St. Mary in Willmar. Anna Mae Hoeper Green lived a long and beautiful life filled with love, resilience, and an unwavering dedication to those around her. Born on May 17, 1930, to Julius and Josefine (Dauer) Hoefer in Bismarck, North Dakota, Anna Mae spent her early years attending country school and helping on the family farm in Sedan, Minnesota.
Anna Mae's love story began at the Glenwood Ballroom when she met John Joseph Hoeper. The couple wed in 1949 and shared a deep bond while raising their children, Judy (Hoeper) McLain, John "Jack" Hoeper, and Paul Hoeper. Anna Mae faced profound loss when John passed away in 1961, yet her strength guided her to a fresh chapter in Litchfield, Minnesota, in 1962.
For many years, Anna Mae worked as a waitress in the area, She found love again with Marvin Green they married in 1967. Together, they opened Green's Café in Kandiyohi, Minnesota, creating a welcoming space for the community. After Marvin’s passing in 1991, Anna Mae closed the café and embraced retirement, joining the Willmar Senior Citizens Club, hosting card games, and enjoying a special friendship with Sam Mortensen.
Anna spent her final years at home in Kandiyohi with her beloved kitty, Tammy, before moving to Bethesda in Willmar in October 2024. Surrounded by family in her final moments, she peacefully passed on to heaven on January 28, 2025.
Anna Mae is now reunited with her parents, her 2 husbands, special friend, 6 siblings, both of her sons, a great-granddaughter, and countless other beloved family and friends.
Cherishing her memory, Anna Mae leaves behind her daughter, 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and an abundance of friends whose lives she touched.
Anna Mae's life was a testament to caring for others, spreading kindness, and finding joy in community.
