Amy Beth Burns

April 1, 1977 — March 11, 2025

Willmar

Amy Beth Burns 47, of Willmar, passed away Tuesday, March 11, at the St. Cloud Hospital with family by her side.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 6, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home from 4:30 pm - 8:00 pm. We will be sharing memories of Amy from 5:30-6:30 pm. Private burial to follow immediately after at Calvary Lutheran Cemetery in Willmar.

Amy Beth Burns was born April 1, 1977, she was one of two daughters born to Dennis and Beverly (deCathelineau) Burns in Willmar, Minnesota. Amy and her brothers, Daniel, David, Wayne, and sister Kelly grew up in the New London area. Eventually Amy moved to Willmar into Chrysalis/REM group home and truly enjoyed her roommates.

Amy worked at the DAC and loved doing the work they had for her. She also looked forward to Day Break that she considered her "work". She enjoyed watching the Minnesota Vikings play, bowling, and playing solitaire at her brother Dan's almost every Sunday. Amy's record for consecutive losses was 500. She was persistent! To know Amy you knew she LOVED her food. Amy enjoyed potato ole's, softshell taco’s from Taco Johns, orange Gatorade as well as just about any other food placed in front of her, besides a certain someone's meatballs. Amy knew what she did and didn't like and she made sure you knew it as well.

Amy was known for her quick wit and had so much sass, but truly the best smile, biggest heart, and strongest fight right up until her last breath.

Amy is survived by her four older siblings: Dan (and Toni) Burns of Raymond; David Burns of Buffalo; Wayne (and Jaqueline) Burns of Little Falls; and Kelly Olmscheid of Livingston, Montana, along with fourteen nieces and nephews and five great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by special friend, Wayne K.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and one niece, Kourtney.
