William "Bill" Nordmeyer

January 19, 1943 — October 14, 2020

William "Bill" G. Nordmeyer, age 77, of Willmar, passed away Wednesday morning, Oct. 14, at his home following an extended illness.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at the Church of St. Mary.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.  www.petersonbrothers.com

William “Bill” George Nordmeyer was born on January 19, 1943, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Merton and Ruth (Iverson) Nordmeyer.  Bill grew up in Breckenridge and Willmar and graduated from Willmar High School in 1961.  He attended St. Cloud State College and then the Willmar Community College.  On February 5, 1966, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Willmar, Bill was united in marriage to Bonnie Gravley.  To this union they were blessed with two beautiful girls, Cindi and Cherie.  Over the years Bill worked as a mason for numerous area construction companies in the masonry business.  He was later employed  for over 16 years at the Willmar Regional Treatment Center as a mason, retiring in 1999.  His hobbies included fishing, bow hunting and trapping.  He loved spending time with family and friends.  He also enjoyed many years of “lake life” at their 2nd home on Norway Lake.

He is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie; two daughters, Cindi (and Todd) Sjoberg of Sunburg and Cherie (and Mark) Kragenbring of Atwater; six grandchildren, Bo (and Carrie) Sjoberg, Josh Kragenbring, Blythe (and Matt) Altendorf, Cameron Kragenbring, Hunter Sjoberg and Myles Kragenbring; and six great grandchildren, Carson, Carter, Blakely, Adalynn, Taylee and Lakelyn, besides other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Marsha and one brother, Richard.
