Wayne Tammen

Wayne R. "Two-Hairs" Tammen, age 78, of Willmar, died Saturday morning, February 1, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 A.M., Wednesday, Feb.5, at Church of St. Mary in Willmar. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-7 PM Tuesday at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home and at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. (www.petersonborthers.com)
Wayne Reiner Tammen was born on April 20, 1935 in Lone Tree Township near Raymond, Minnesota, the son of Clara W. (Freese) and Simon R. Tammen. He grew up on the family farm near Raymond and attended District 65 Country School and was baptized at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City, Minnesota. On July 25, 1970 he was married to Janice Teresa Schulte and they made their home in Willmar. Wayne made a living as an over the road driver for various companies including Farmers Produce, Fritz Trucking, Smith Trucking, and Ammerman Trucking Companies. He also worked for several farmers in the area including Harlow and Kevin Ortenblad. After he retired from trucking he could be found riding Co-Pilot for Ed Wilson of Ed's Service Center. He had a love for life and was blessed with the gift to gab and a great sense of humor. Some of his passions included mowing his lawn and washing his vehicles but his number one passion was his family, especially his grandchildren. He prided himself on taking care of his beloved wife, Janice until her death on September 10, 2012. Wayne was also a Gold Member of the Eagles Club in Willmar.
He is survived by his three children; Greta (and Kevin) Marti, Scott Tammen and Steven (and Emily) Tammen all of Willmar and seven grandchildren; Olivia, Grace, Logan, Lily, Madalyn, Liam and Easton-Wayne. Also surviving are one sister, Marlys (and Buford) Flesland of Cottage Grove and one brother, Dean (and Diane) Tammen of Cranbrook, British Columbia, Canada, besides other relatives and friends.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Janice in 2012.
