Sharon "Liz" Litzau

November 5, 1937 — November 8, 2021

Sharon “Liz” Lee Litzau, age 84, of rural Atwater, passed away Monday, Nov. 8, at the family farm in Lake Elizabeth Township.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 17, at Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  Arrangements are with the Peterson Brothers Atwater Funeral Home.  www.petersonbrothers.com

Sharon Lee Litzau was born on November 5, 1937, in Atwater, Minnesota, the daughter of Grant and Viola (Smoldt) Jackson.  She grew up in the Atwater community, attended country school and graduated from Atwater High School in 1955.  On July 12, 1956, Sharon was united in marriage to Richard Litzau in Colorado.  She was employed as the bookkeeper for their family business, Litzau Farm Drainage and also as a homemaker, taking care of their five children.

She loved her animals, the sheep, cattle, cats (Sparkie) and dogs (Bingo).  She enjoyed caring for her gardens, both flower and vegetable along with feeding and watching the variety of birds that visited the farm.  Sharon made the best cookies and coffee.  She had a beautiful whistle that will be missed.

She is survived by her husband, Richard; five sons, Kevin Litzau, Kim (Debbie) Litzau, Doug Litzau, Dean Litzau and Keith Litzau; twenty six grandchildren, Cory (Megan) Litzau, Justin (Miranda) Litzau, Josh (Courtney) Litzau, Toni (Kyle) Moody, Kurt (Miranda) Litzau, Lucas Litzau, Melissa Litzau (Brandon Kragenbring), Mike (Morgan) Litzau, Jason (Liz) Litzau, Janet (Guy) Hughes, Patty (Michael) Murphy, Dave Litzau, Scott Litzau, Holly Litzau (Dan Nelson), Shannon (Tim) Wynia, Jessica (Travis) Odegard, Douglas (Hannah Nelson) Litzau Jr., Tessa Litzau, Tosha Litzau, Ashley Litzau, Brandon Litzau, Kristopher Litzau, Kyle (Raeann)Litzau, Jennifer Litzau, Joy Litzau (Jesse) and Kristen Litzau; forty one great grandchildren and two brothers, Perry (Jill) Jackson and Daryl (JoAnn) Jackson, besides other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Grant and Viola (Schmoldt) Jackson; one grandson, Mark Litzau; and twelve siblings, Kenneth Jackson, Dale Jackson, Shirley Jackson, Barbara Kleinschmidt, Lloyd Jackson, Karen Maeyeart, Dennis Jackson, Wayne Jackson, Danny Jackson, Joyce Bratz, Miles Jackson and Alan Jackson.
