Myrna Dahlberg

Myrna Joy Dahlberg, age 80, of Kandiyohi, died Wednesday evening, Jan. 7, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 12, at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Kandiyohi. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Willmar. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 11, at the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Myrna Joy Dahlberg was born on December 19, 1934, in Hettinger, North Dakota, the daughter of Peter and Gladys (Berg) DeJong. In 1941, she and her family moved to Hawick, Minnesota and in 1943 to Willmar. Myrna graduated from Willmar High School in 1952. On June 30, 1953, Myrna was united in marriage to G. LeRoy Dahlberg and they made their home on a farm near New London. In 1957, they moved to Kandiyohi. Myrna worked several secretarial and bookkeeping jobs at various businesses. She also worked side by side with her husband, LeRoy in farming and with the Willmar Livestock Auction business. She was currently employed as a bookkeeper for her son's business and at the Pioneerland Library System. Myrna enjoyed sewing, traveling and being with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed family get-togethers and visits by her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by one son, Mark Dahlberg (and special friend, Sonya Peterson) of Kandiyohi and one daughter, Renae (and Don) Shields of New London; four grandchildren, Jodi (and Rev. Carl) Fiskness of Floodwood, Michelle Shields of St. Paul, Angie Dahlberg of Richfield and Abby (and Adam) Thompson of Newtown, CT.; four great grandchildren, Kaden, Isabelle, Zachariah and Lucy, with two more expected soon, besides other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, LeRoy in 1993.
