She grew up on the family farm and attended District 108 country school. She was baptized and confirmed at the family church. After her mother's death in 1928, she helped around the farm and helped raise the younger children. During her life she worked several jobs in Willmar, including Purity Castle, downtown bowling alley, Meat Center, Quick Stop and Timbers Restaurant. During the late 1960's she owned and operated the restaurant at Harry's Corner. She operated the restaurant for about 1 year before selling it due to health reasons.
