Lloyd Mahn

Lloyd A. Mahn, age 71, of Atwater, passed away Saturday afternoon, June 13, at his residence following a short illness from Congestive Heart Failure

A Celebration of Life service will be held outdoors at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 19, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Atwater.  Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to the time of service.  A private interment will take place at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to Rice Hospice, Atwater Area Help for Seniors or Hawk Creek Animal Shelter are preferred.  Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Atwater Funeral Home.  www.petersonbrothers.com

Lloyd Allen Mahn was born on November 9, 1948, in Willmar, Minnesota, the son of Marvin and Myrtle (Holtz) Mahn.  He grew up in the Atwater community, was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church and graduated from Atwater High School in 1966.  Lloyd began working at Cozy Cab in Litchfield and then for Green Giant.  On October 29, 1982, Lloyd was married to Kathy Anderson and they made their home on a farm north of Atwater.  Lloyd was engaged in farming his entire life.  He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and served as an usher and host.  His hobbies included playing softball league for the Atwater Inn team, traveling to Montana and Oregon, winter snowmobile trips out west and to the Pequot Lakes area, playing card games, ice fishing and watching his sons activities and sporting events.  In these last years, Lloyd was very proud to have his two sons carry on the family farming operation.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; two sons, Brent Mahn of Willmar and Ryan Mahn of Atwater and three siblings, Marilyn (and Harold) Lundin of Litchfield, Brian Mahn of Atwater and Ardis (and Dan) Denn of Rochester; besides other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his twin siblings, Lyle and Lilas Mahn.
