Juan Vera Sr.

Juan M. Vera Sr. age 66 of Willmar, passed away Tuesday morning, April 6, at his residence in Willmar following an extended illness.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 12, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Monday.  Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home.  www.petersonbrothers.com

Juan Manuel Vera Sr. was born on March 28, 1955, in Edinburg, Texas, the son of Vicente Sr. and Herminia (Maldonado) Vera.  He grew up and received his education in Corpus Christi, Texas.  Juan was employed in the pipeline industry and later as a roofing contractor.  In 1996 he moved to Willmar to be closer to family.  From 1996 to 2003, Juan worked at Jennie-O Foods in Willmar and was forced to retire early due to health reasons.  He was an avid fisherman, a talented woodworker and a fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers.  Juan enjoyed listening to music, especially country and Spanish and visiting area casinos with Elida.  Juan will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his ability to always make others laugh and his happy smile.

He is survived by his love of over 17 years, Elida of Willmar; eight children, Juan (and Jenise) Vera, Irma (and Esteban) Vera, Ramon (and Elizabeth) Vera, Roxanne (and Chris) Lozano, Juan (and Teri) Lozano, Adrian Robledo, John (and Stacey) Vera and Alex (and Samantha) Lozano; forty grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.  Also surviving are three siblings, Pablo, Dora and David Rodriguez and his beloved canine companions, Peanut, Max and Daisy Vera, besides other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; twelve siblings; two sons, Jose Lozano and Adam Robledo and one grandson, Diamente.

Last time I saw my tio was in 2017 at IVs house that was the last time I saw my tio Lee as well.. I remember that my mom and my tio would always celebrate their bdays together and his cake always had a naked (mona)lol..he was a wonderful person and uncle .out of all my tos he was the only one that would call me by my full name (Ruby Ann)...so go rest high on that mountain tio im sure my mom was waiting for you with open arms.. you will be missed, love you ...my condolences to elida and all my cousin's .

Last time i saw my tio was i believe in 2017 when we all got together at my cousin IVs house..that was the last time I saw my tio Lee as well... May Juan "Meme" rest in peace. Although distance separated us, he and his family and our family are friends and relatives for over 50 years, there were many good times. Condolences to Elida, her children and to my niece, Ivy and nephews, JV n Ramon who are the loves of their dad, and Jesse his granddaughter. Will be missed by all
