John was my favorite professor way back in 1962-1963 at Willmar Community College. He was the most educated person I had been around, so was a wonderful example of intelligence and academic excellence. I made contact with him once after ten years, but often regretted not keeping in touch more in some fashion. Jerry B

My sympathies to the family. I had the privilege of being a student of John from 1979 to 1981. He was a phenomenal English professoras he helped myself and many others become the writers and communicators we needed to be in order to succeed. One of my favorite John lines was "Yes my friends, writing a research paper will not be like drinking a can of beer. It will not be enjoyed." RIP John.
