Jean Johnson

Jean A. Johnson, age 88, of Willmar, died Thursday morning, May 26, at Prairie Senior Cottage in Willmar.

A memorial service will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, June 1, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11 AM until time of service at the funeral home.

Jean Angeline Johnson was born on July 17, 1927 in Slayton, Minnesota, the daughter of Bartholomew T. and Nora C. (Galles) Fallon. She grew up in that area and received her education, graduating from Slayton High School. Jean worked at the clothing store in Slayton for a couple of years. On July 6, 1950, she was married to Vincent Keith Johnson in Lake Wilson and they made their home on a farm near Hadley, Minnesota. They moved to Willmar in 1967 and Jean worked as a waitress and bartender at several restaurants in town. She moved into the Prairie Senior Cottages in August of 2013 and has resided there since. Jean enjoyed cooking, entertaining and dancing. She loved being with family and friends and just having a good time.

She is survived by her six children: Linda Carlson of Willmar, Todd Johnson of Glenwood, Mark (and Patty) Johnson of Spicer, Judy (and Randy) Wright of Willmar, Kathy Ammend of Glenwood and Thomas Johnson of Willmar. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren: Lori (and Chad) Knudson, Dan (and Tabby) Johnson, Krista (and Joe) Jans, Brian Carlson, Alyssa (and Ashley) DeBoer, Mariah (and Mike) Cassidy, Mati Johnson, Bri'Ann Wright (and Peter Hedberg), Becca Wright, Branden (and Jennifer) Johnson, Ira Ammend, Danielle Ammend, Darren Erickson; 14 great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Colleen Fallon of Kansas City, MO and Carol (and Pat) Hurney of Waikoloa, Hawaii; besides other relatives and friends.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband Vincent in 2012 and two sisters; Veronica Snook and Beverly Fallon.
