Harold Ardell Hydeen was born March 3, 1929, in Kandiyohi Township, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota the son of Albert P. and Hildi K. (Carlson) Hydeen. He was called from this life on Wednesday morning, February 1 at the Bethesda Nursing home in Willmar, MN. He had attained the age of 87 years.

Harold grew up in rural Kandiyohi, where he attended country school. This was pretty easy because the District 35 Country School was located just off the end of his family's farm driveway. Harold attended kindergarten through 8th grade here followed by high school at Willmar graduating in 1948. He met Lorraine the girl down the road and love of his life while on the "High School" bus to Willmar. As an upper classman, he liked mechanical drawing and shop classes and for fun liked to go bowling, roller skate or ice skate. After graduating he drove gravel truck often stopping at the Svea Creamery for an afternoon snack of a fudge bar. Lorraine worked at the Svea Creamery so this was always a good stop.

Harold was baptized and confirmed at Tripolis Lutheran Church in Kandiyohi, Minnesota. Harold married Lorraine Tolzmann on October 27, 1956 at the Svea Lutheran church. Together Harold and Lorraine were able to share 60 years of marriage.

Harold lived on the same farm his entire life. He drove school bus and trucked bulk oil for Standard Oil and Skelly in his early married years. Harold started farming by doing custom work for neighbors. This involved corn shelling and swathing for other farmers in the area. Later he ran his own operation raising grain and a dairy herd. His nieces and nephews loved to visit the farm to see the cows and the new calves.

In 1977 Harold joined the sales team of Neo-Life. This opportunity brought many new friends, travel and several years of attending not only county fairs but also the Minnesota State Fair. Harold liked helping people.
Harold always enjoyed cars and loved to shine them up and work on them. He loved a good card game of Rook or a good game of horseshoes at a family outing. He liked colorful gardens full of flowers and his farm dog companions. Harold was a spiritual man with big smile and an infectious laugh.

Harold is survived by his wife Lorraine Hydeen of rural Kandiyohi; brother-in-law Kelly (and Irene) Lindblad of Benson; step-sister Lonnetta Schroeder of Clara City; and brother-in-law Wally Roetzer of St. Louis Park; nieces and nephews Deb (and John) Connolly of Danvers, Craig (and Miriam) Lindblad of Glenwood, Scott (and Marsha) Lindblad of Chaska, John (and Tania) Bricher of North Lauderdale, FL, Kristina Thompson of Granite Falls, NC, Lori Fluck of Kandiyohi, Patti (and Kevin) Schultz of Brown Deer, WI, Linda Roetzer of St Louis Park, Gary (and Dawn) Roetzer of Cambridge, and Kevin Roetzer of St Louis Park; and many great nieces and nephews.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Hildi; and sisters Violet and Shirley.
