David Lee

David W. Lee, age 76, of Willmar, passed away Wednesday, May 12, at his residence in Willmar.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 21, at the Church of St. Mary in Willmar.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home.  www.petersonbrothers.com

David William Lee was born on September 16, 1944, in Adelaide, Australia, the son of Horrace and Madeline (Souter) Lee.  He grew up in Manly, New South Wales, was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith and graduated from Christian Brothers High School.  David was an accomplished musician and played in a 60’s pop band.  As a young adult, he had many adventurous passions like surfing, scuba diving and downhill skiing.  In 1970, David met the love of his life, Kathleen Anne Hackett while she was on vacation in Australia.  They were later married and enjoyed traveling around the world before settling down in Minnesota.  David worked as an Electrical Technician and a Broadcast Technician in the telecommunication field.  David and Kathy enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing and boating together.  In 2009, Kathy suffered a stroke and since then David has been a wonderful loving caregiver.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; their two children, Dr. Jennifer (and Flavio) Boni of Willmar and Warren (and Liz) Lee of San Jose, CA.; four grandchildren, Laird and Liam Pentz and Cooper and Taylor Lee; two brothers, John (and Robyn) Lee of Sydney, Australia and Peter (and Colleen) Lee of Brisbane, Australia; and one sister, Rosemary Melmeth of  Scone Australia, besides other relatives and friends

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Erik Pentz in 2016 and a brother-in-law, Stan Melmeth.
