Alice Goehring

Alice Goehring age 90, of Willmar, died Monday evening, October 6, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.

Memorial service will be held at 1 P.M., Saturday, October 11, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Willmar. Interment will be in Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Peterson Brother Funeral Home in Willmar. (

Alice Goehring was born on April 13, 1924 in Hutchinson County, near Parkston, South Dakota, the daughter of Selme (Uttecht) and John C. Peters. She was baptized in that area and was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tripp, SD on May 28, 1938. On May 7, 1944, she was married to Kenneth H. Goehring at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wagner, South Dakota. Ken was serving the Army and when he was discharged they lived and farmed in several different areas in South Dakota, Wisconsin and finally moved to Minnesota in 1956. Alice loved being with family and friends and enjoyed gardening, fishing, baking, sewing and reading. She also spent 11 years as a foster grandparent at Kennedy School. Alice died last Monday evening at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. She had attained the age of 90 years, 5 months and 23 days.

She is survived by 3 children; Dennis (and Sharon) Goehring of Atwater, Jeanne Ann (and John) Reynolds of South Haven and Melinda Samuelson of Hutchinson. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren: Dean, Scott Goehring and Angela Hatlestad; Lori Hornick-Lindell, John and Rebecca Reynolds; Kristin and Michelle Samuelson, 15 great grandchildren: Rachel and Rebecca Goehring, McGwire and Dalayne Hatlestad, Carson and Connor Goehring, Brittany and Thomas Hornick, Madison, Meredith and Marlo Reynolds, Kayla and Emma Garberson, and Harper and Emerson Neubarth and 1 sister, Velda Jerke of Wagner, SD, besides other relatives and friends.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 56 years, Kenneth, in 2000, infant granddaughter, Carrie Jean Reynolds, son-in-law, Daryl Samuelson, 3 brothers; Wilbert, Elmer and Leonard "Bud" Peters, 2 sisters; Cora Nelson and Irene Gramkow, 3 sisters-in-law and 5 brothers-in-law.

The interment will be in the Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery. Following the service at the grave, all relatives and friends are invited to return to the church for a time of fellowship and a light lunch. Those not going to the cemetery may go directly to the church fellowship hall, be served your lunch and wait for the return of the family.
