Angela C. Benedix, age 79, of Willmar, died Thursday morning, May 16, at Carris Health Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21, at Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in St. Joseph. www.petersonbrothers.com
Angela Cecile Benedix was born on October 17, 1939, in Grand Forks, North Dakota, the daughter of Joseph and Mabel (Brickson) Mayer. She grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from Grand Villa Maria Academy in Frontenac in 1957. Angela received nurses training at the University of Minnesota and then began working as a LPN at the U of M Hospital in the surgical ward and later at Fairview Hospital. In 1980, Angela moved to Sacred Heart and was employed at the Granite Falls Health Care Center and in 1990, moved to Willmar and worked at Rice Care Center. Angela was a member of the Church of St. Mary. She was an active officer with ARRP, past president of the Association of Biltmore Condo group and a volunteer for Meals-on-Wheels and Let’s Go Fishing. Her hobbies included traveling, especially on many bus trips with Rustad Tours, reading, watching old movies and planting flower gardens.
She is survived by her two daughters, Alisa (and Roger) Nelson of Wabun and Pam (and David) Lund of Sacred Heart; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Philip (and Elaina) Mayer of Tylor, TX., and one sister, Marilyn (and Arnie) Jentz of Fergus Falls., besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Joseph and Richard; and two sisters, Patricia and Rosanne.
