Theresa R. Sevshek, age 97, of Willmar, formerly of Chisholm, Minnesota, died Wednesday morning, November 13, at Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 16, at the Church of St. Mary in Willmar, Minnesota. The interment will be held in the spring at the Chisholm City Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. (www.petersonbrothers.com)
Theresa Rose Sevshek was born on June 26, 1916, in Chisholm, Minnesota, the daughter of Rudolph and Theresa (Adamic) Champa. She grew up, received her education in Chisholm and graduated from Chisholm High School in 1934. On October 26, 1935, she was married to Frank Charles Sevshek at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chisholm and they made their home in Eveleth for about 3 years before moving back to Chisholm. She lived in Chisholm until she moved to the Goldencrest Nursing Home in Hibbing in about 2005. In 2008, she moved to Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar. Theresa was an active member at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Chisholm and a member of the women's group at the church. She was also active in the Garden Club, Card Club, Slovenian Women's Organization, the SNPJ and helped with the Brownies and Girl Scouts. Theresa loved being with family and friends. She loved to entertain them and feed them her homemade goodies. Holidays were her time to shine with all her homemaker cookies, cakes and breads. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and traveling.
She is survived by two daughters: Jeanette R. Buchanan of Willmar and Karen L. Bjorgo of Wayzata. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, besides other relatives and friends.
Theresa was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson: Nicholas Bjorgo; 4 great-grandchildren: triplets - Faith, Grace & Aaron VanSloun, and Gilbert Avieda, Jr.; son-in-law: Allan Buchanan; and a brother: Rudolph A. Champa.
