Mark Sward

Mark S. Sward, age 59, of Willmar, died Sunday morning, March 15, at his home in Willmar.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 20, at Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Willmar.

Mark Steven Sward was born on July 13, 1955, in Redwood Falls, Minnesota, the son of Gerald and Mary (Amberg) Sward. At the age of 10, he and his family moved to Willmar and he graduated from Willmar High School in 1974. Mark then attended the Granite Falls Vo-Tech and graduated in 1976 with a degree in fluid power engineering. On February 16, 1979, Mark was married to Pamela Larson and to this union they were blessed with four children. Mark was employed as a cross country truck driver until 2009 when he had to retire due to his health problems. Mark enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He had a great sense of humor and loved to go out for coffee and visit.

He is survived by his loving wife, Pamela of Willmar; three daughters, Shannon Sward of Willmar, Angela (and Chad) Olson of Pennock and Danielle Sward of Willmar; thirteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. Also surviving are three sisters, Geri (and Pat) Nerby of Plymouth, Doreen Wise of Phoenix, AZ., and Jeannine (and Jon) Fournier of Kalispill, MT; and one sister-in-law, Patty (and Mark) Brenner of Kerkhoven, besides other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Sean in 1999.
