Lila Kallevig

Lila M. Kallevig, age 95, of Willmar, died Sunday morning, May 31, at the Rice Care Center in Willmar.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 8, at Eagle Lake Lutheran Church in Willmar. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Lila Marjorie Kallevig was born on February 28, 1920, in Willmar, Minnesota, the daughter of Christian and Emma (Thompson) Olson. She grew up in Willmar, was baptized and confirmed at Eagle Lake Lutheran Church and graduated from Willmar High School in 1938. She began working at a young age at the Bethesda Country Home as an aide. On September 28, 1941, Lila was united in marriage to Everett Kallevig and they made their home in the Willmar community. Lila was a homemaker for several years before working at the Eagle Lake School as a cook. In the 1960's, she worked at Red Owl in Willmar as the catering service manager. Lila was a life long member of Eagle Lake Lutheran Church. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, quilting, puzzles, crosswords and playing board games. She also enjoyed making lefse and cooking and baking for family and friends, especially over the holidays.

She is survived by her three children, Mary Anderson (and fiancé, Layton Prosser) of Ramsey, Steve (and Cindy) Kallevig of Willmar and Daryl (and Pam) Kallevig of Duluth; ten grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Harlow (and Ardy) Olson of Ventura, CA., besides other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Everett in 2003; one sister, Chrystelle Ristig and two brothers, Marvin and Vernell Olson.
