Doris Myhre

Doris B. Myhre, age 96, of Willmar, died Saturday morning, September 13, at Sunrise Village in Willmar.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 17, at Vinje Lutheran Church. Interment will be at the Spicer City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. with an Order of Eastern Star service at 6:45 P.M. on Tuesday, September 16, at the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
Doris Blanche Jensen was born on December 1, 1917, in Granite Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of Simon and Hannah (Ziehl) Jensen. She was baptized and confirmed at Harrison Presbyterian Church in Kandiyohi County. Doris graduated in 1935 from Chisago City High School and later attended St. Cloud Business College.
On June 12, 1937, Doris was united in marriage to Oscar M. Myhre. They lived in Spicer and later moved to Sauk Centre, MN and Belgrade, MN. In 1946 Doris and Oscar moved to Willmar. Doris worked at the Willmar Treatment Center and retired as an LPN in 1982. From 1973 to 1983 Doris and Oscar owned and operated the Holiday Motel on First Street. She was also employed as a real estate agent and a Mary Kay Representative.
Doris had a zest for life and always ready to go. She was awarded the Willmar Eagles Humanitarian Award in 1993. Some of her many activities include: Past Matron of Eastern Star, Shrine Auxiliary, Sons of Norway, McPhails Mill Questers Club, Doris Club, Investment Club, Rice Hospice Volunteer, Concordia College C-400 Member and Vinje church circles. Doris was an avid bridge player, loved the theater / plays, golf (made a hole in one), knitting, entertaining and being with family. She moved to Sunrise Apartments in August 2013.
Doris is survived by her three children, Sharon (and Gene) Van Hauen of St. Cloud, Michael (and Mickey) Myhre of Ankeny, Iowa and Steve (and Linda) Myhre of Willmar; seven grandchildren, Gretchen Van Hauen, Heidi Morse (Kevin), Ryan Myhre (Nicole), Kelsey Moran (Ryan), Colleen Myhre, Tracy Havener (Chad) and Jamie Grimm; eleven great grandchildren, Ryleah, Alayna, Everly, John, Charlie, Chantel, Jacob, Ryan, Tyler, Joey and Grayson; and one great-great-grandson Bradin; along with many dear friends.
Doris was preceded in death by one sister, Betty; one brother, Arnold; her parents, Sim and Hannah and her husband of 73 years, Oscar.
