Clarice Wiley

Clarice Wiley, age 87, of Bloomington, formerly of Granite Falls, Spicer and Willmar, died Thursday morning, January 5, at Founders Ridge Senior Living in Bloomington.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, at Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer. Interment will be in the Spicer City Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Arrangements are with the Peterson Brothers Green Lake Funeral Home in Spicer. www.petersonbrothers.com.
Clarice Georgie Ann Wiley was born on October 27, 1929, in Astoria, South Dakota, the daughter of George and Anna (Bentaas) Hammer. She grew up on family farms in the Astoria, Strandburg and Ortley areas. Clarice graduated from Summit High School in 1947 and then earned her Teaching Certificate from Northern State Teachers College in Aberdeen. She taught grades 1-8 in country schools in the Summit area for 7 years. On September 23, 1950, Clarice was united in marriage to Robert Edwin Wiley. They resided in the communities of Summit, Morristown, and Cresbard, South Dakota and Barron, Wisconsin. In 1968, they moved to Granite Falls where they lived for over 20 years. Their retirement years were spent in the communities of Spicer and Willmar, Ft. Meyers, FL and Mesa, AZ. Clarice was a talented singer. She earned a Superior rating at the South Dakota state music contest during her senior year in high school. She was a soloist at many weddings and funerals. Clarice enjoyed volunteer work and served as president of the Granite Falls Lutheran Church ALCW and as a trustee on the church board. Clarice also served on the board of directors for the banks she and Bob owned. She enjoyed flower gardening, playing golf (2 holes-in-one), cross country skiing and going on long walks. Clarice will be remembered for being a loving and caring wife and mother.
She is survived by her loving husband of over 66 years, Robert; three children, Mark Wiley of Spicer, Kim Wiley of Eden Prairie and Dawn (and Greg) Garlough of Bloomington. Also surviving are three siblings, Signora Sieverson of Billings, MT., Verle (and Janice) Hammer of Alexandria and LeAnn (and Don) Juenemann of Kalamazoo, MI., and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three siblings, Inez Levisen, Gloria Hanson and Stanton Hammer and one nephew, Craig Juenemann. Blessed be her memory.
