Cecilia Huizinga

Cecilia R. Huizinga age 97, of Willmar, died Wednesday morning, September 9, at the Clara City Care Center in Clara City, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, September 12, at the Church of St. Mary in Willmar. Interment will be in the Mound Cemetery in Ortonville, Minnesota. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.

Cecilia Rose Huizinga was born on March 11, 1918 near Rosen, Minnesota, the daughter of Pauline (Pillatzki) and Alois Wollschlager. She grew up and received her education in that area. On May 18, 1938 married Barold "Barney" E. Huizinga in Rosen, Minnesota and they made their home and farmed near Ortonville until 1959. They moved to the Willmar area and owned and operated Barney's Food Market at Eagle Lake. They operated the store until 1974 when they sold it due to Barney's health. They moved into Willmar and Cecilia worked until her retirement at the Willmar Cookie Company. She moved to the Clara City Care Center in January of 2014 and has resided there since. Her faith and her family were the important things in her life and she enjoyed gardening, canning and fishing.

She is survived by two children, James (and Jackie) Huizinga of Weslaco, TX and Sister Bernita Lindstrom of Little Falls. Also surviving are three grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, one brother, Sevrin (and Michella) Wollschlager of Ortonville, four sisters; Elvina Haacke of Sioux Falls, SD, Hattie (and Bill) Jesse of Sioux Falls, SD, Doris Elofson of Clearwater, FL and Valerie (and Bill) Schroeder of Sioux Falls, SD, one brother-in-law, Clifford O'Dea of Sioux Falls, besides other relatives and friends.

Cecilia was preceded in death by her parents, husband Barney in 2000, daughter, Marguerite Hanson, sister, Theresa O'Dea and two brothers. Vince and Anthony Wollschlager.
