Barbara Jean Hodapp, age 92, of Minneapolis, died Friday afternoon, November 14, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 20, at the First Presbyterian Church in Willmar. Interment will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Arrangements are with the Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar. www.petersonbrothers.com
Barbara Jean Hodapp was born on May 1, 1922 in Willmar, Minnesota to Dr. Robert J. Hodapp and Blanche (Vinton) Hodapp. She graduated from Willmar High School in 1940 and graduated from Carleton College in 1944 where she studied vocal performance. She lived virtually her entire adult life in downtown Minneapolis and worked as a legal secretary.
As a long-time member of the Minneapolis Hiking Club, she traveled to most all National Parks and camped and hiked in many of Minnesota's state parks. She loved being outdoors and enjoyed golf, skiing, the North Shore and Green Lake. She was an enthusiastic supporter of the Minnesota Symphony Orchestra and the Republican Party. Barbara had a beautiful singing voice, was a great conversationalist and was game for anything. Most of all she loved her family! She looked forward to family gatherings and preserved countless newspaper clippings referencing anyone in her extended family.
Barbara passed away unexpectedly on November 14, 2014 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. She is survived by her sister, Donna (and Wallace) Gustafson and their children, Ann Gustafson and Sarah (and Gary) Turnquist and by her brother's children: Mary Elizabeth Hodapp, Dr. Robert E. (and Connie) Hodapp, Dr. Michael (and Mary) Hodapp, John (and Carey) Hodapp and Dr. Paul Hodapp.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Dr. Robert V. Hodapp.
