August " Mickey" E. Niemeyer, age 81, of rural Raymond, died Friday morning, Oct. 3, at Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, October 6, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Raymond. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Raymond. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, October 5, at the church and will continue one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are with Peterson Brothers Funeral Home in Willmar.

August "Mickey" Emil Niemeyer was born on January 10, 1933, on the family farm in Rheiderland Township, near Clara City, the son of Kasjen and Augusta (Miller) Niemeyer. He grew up in that area, received his education at the District 63 rural school near Gluek and was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City. He farmed with his father for a few years. On April, 30, 1954, he was married to Darlene Anna Harms at the St. John's Lutheran Parsonage in Raymond. They made their home and farmed near Gluek for a couple of years, then in the Kerkhoven area, before moving to the Raymond area to build their lifelong home in 1962. He loved farming and enjoyed raising his hogs. Mickey also worked for over 25 years doing custom flax bailing for the Archer-Daniels Company. He was a life member of the Willmar Eagles Club and a past member of the Raymond Sportsmen's Club. Mickey loved being with family and friends, playing cards and making stops at any Dairy Queen that he could find.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene of Raymond; two daughters, Wanita Koepke of Sioux Falls, SD and Lois (and Brian) Johnson of Raymond. Also surviving is one granddaughter, Angie Koepke of Sioux Falls, SD; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Sophie (and Ray) Bodin and Mable (and Lloyd) Ruesch and one brother, Ervin Niemeyer.
