Ann Black

Ann E. Black, age 75, of Sunburg, died Friday, October 11, at her home in Sunburg.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 16, at the Sunburg Community Bible Church. Interment will be at West Lake Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. on Tuesday, October 15, at the Peterson Brothers Sunburg Funeral Home and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Ann Edelene Black was born on May 5, 1938, on the Monson farm in Swift County, Minnesota, the daughter of Julius and Mildred (Shuck) Huseby. She grew up in the rural Sunburg community, attended District #23 country school and graduated from New London High School in 1956. Ann farmed with her father for a year then worked at Gandrud's store in Sunburg. On October 3, 1958, Ann was united in marriage to Richard Black and to this union they were blessed with four children, Rick, Kari, Troy and Barry. They farmed for most of their 55 years of married life. She also worked as a Trained Medical Assistant at the Lakewood Group Home. At her retirement, she was a co-owner of a business.
Ann enjoyed farming, gardening, deer hunting and raising chickens, horses and cows. She was a musician most of her life and used her talent to the glory of the Lord. She was an organist at several area churches. Ann founded the Joyful Messengers who sang in many places. She played viola in the Willmar Symphony Orchestra and was the pianist for the West Lake Quartet. She also gave piano and violin lessons to children. Ann was a Sunday school teacher, an adult leader in 4-H and competed in a 70 mile bike marathon at the age of 45.
Ann enjoyed life. She was determined, forgiving and loyal to her family. She fought to live and outlive cancer, she would not be defined by it. Ann desired more than anything to live in fullness of the spirit and love of the Lord.
She is survived by her loving husband, Richard; four children, Rick (and Ann) Black of Sunburg, Kari (and Don) Gronli of Fergus Falls, Troy (and Michelle) Black of Superior, IA., and Barry (and Deena) Black of Deer Park, WI.; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Ed (and Becky) Huseby of Pennock and Konrad (and Cindy) Huseby of Circle Pines; one sister, Jane Norman of Pennock; four step-sisters, Rondi (and K.) Suppiah of Colorado Springs, CO., Judy (and David) Bondurant of Colorado Springs, CO., Mary Jane (and Paul) Ulferts of Sunburg and Linda Rindahl of Pennock; and two step-brothers, James (and Shirley) Rindahl of New London and Loren (and Dawn) Rindahl of Sunburg, besides other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-mother, Bessie and brother-in-law, Jack Norman.
